About Sarah Palin's son?

Is it true he cut the break cables of some school busses in Alaska, and when he was arrested, the judge gave him the choice of jail or service to his country? and is it true he's in a gay scandal? If this is all true do you think it will affect the McCain/Palin campaign? I don't think it should but it's still shocking if it's true.
