Life Alert Device in Carry on Luggage?

I will be traveling with my 88 year old grandmother in March, and she has a Life Alert type of device. This is a main unit that is hooked up to the telephone line, and a pendant. My question is, will the device itself arouse suspicion by the TSA security officers if we pack this in her carry on luggage, or should we place it in her checked luggage?
