What is similar and what is different about these 2 statements & how they relate to the theme of fame & glory?

I can't comment on fame and glory, but both quotes reveal the character's beliefs about courage and valor in the face of war. The one feels he is denied a "hero's death", while the other has someone counseling him to hold back and stay out of the fray for perhaps selfish reasons.
