Why do the gun control ?

Why do the gun control nuts want to make stricter gun laws to make it more difficult for the law abiding citizen to legally register his 1000 + dollar Walther competition target pistol when the gangbanger street criminals already ignore the existing gun laws & will continue to ignore any new gun laws by routinely continuing to murder people in drive by shootings with far more deadly automatic firearms bought on the street ?
